Revolutionary Backroads Motorbike Tour will start in Phong Nha village and will follow to Khe Sanh via the Ho Chi Minh trail – a legendary road used by Vietcong to supply to the south during the war. The west part of the Ho Chi Minh trail is so far our favorite stretch of road to ride!
On this journey, we’ll ride along the Son River to explore Phong Nha Ke Bang and also have a chance to meet local farmers and see how rice and other crops are grown.
We will ride 100 km along the borderline between Laos and Vietnam to see Van Kieu ethnic hill tribes and their villages. Also, you will learn about the historical background and origin of the Ho Chi Minh Trail since it was a hidden trail not known by the US Army to bombard. You will also discover more about rural life in one of the most remote parts of the country. We will make a stop at Van Kieu ethnic hill tribe village for you to get acquainted with their culture and sustainable way of living.
We’ll then stop at another local village for a traditional Vietnamese lunch before riding another 100km to the south of Khe Sanh. We will make some stops to see important relics of the Vietnam War and visit the US compass base in Khe Sanh where you can see tanks, helicopters and planes as well as a small war museum.
Finally, you will check into your hotel in town and we will have a get together to celebrate our first day of this exciting adventure!
We will take Highway 9 to start our way towards Hue and will stop at famous Vietnamese war sites of the Dakrong bridge, Rock Pile and the Doc Mieu base.
Our guides will take you to Truong Son national cemetery (the biggest cemetery in Vietnam) to pay respect for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for this country.
We will stop at the DMZ zone where you can see the former border between North and South Vietnam and we will cross this border at the 17th parallel.
We will visit Vinh Moc tunnel – an incredible man-made creation where local people lived under the ground for 7 years to hide from US bombs. The tunnel has been dug 23 meters underground without the use of any modern-day technology!
And finally your reward: swimming at Cua Viet beach and trying some local seafood. The last stretch of our tour after that will be driving along the coastline to Hue which is famous for its Imperial City.
